A few years back, as we strolled thru the incredible horicultural gardens at Michigan State University, I saw the most beautiful plant climbing up an archway. I'd never seen, or at least noticed, this beautiful large flower. I learned it is called Clematis. The flowers are large somewhere around 3 inches. It is now at the top of my favorites list, tied with Gardenias.
Now, I am definitely not a 'green thumb' but I do have my fancies. I'd like to have a garden w/ these in full bloom. Maybe someday.
