More Blood Suckers

Only this time they are little and too real. School just started and already the topic of head lice has come up. (Thankfully not in our home.)

Last year, right before Christmas break, one of my kids came home w/them. And shared with 2 of her siblings. I spent HOURS coming thru their long hair. Only Dallin didn't get them because he was using so much hair gel.

Did you know lice are only able to survive in healthy clean hair?

Anyway, don't bother using the lice products at the store. Lice are becoming resistant to them. Here is what we did:

Use MAYONAISE and VINEGAR. To really get rid of them, work in lots of Mayo all over the scalp to the ends of the hair. Coat it thickly. Cover the hair w/ a shower cap or similar to keep it from being too messy. Let the affected child/person sleep over night w/ this. In the morning, using a lice comb, comb thru thoroughly. Some of the bugs will have died(suffocated) but mostly they will be trapped and unable to walk. You can pick them out. Be thorough.

After you are SURE they are all out, wash out the greasy mayo out with warm water and Dawn dish detergent.

Next, rinse hair thoroughly with WHITE VINEGAR. It dissolves the outer part of the eggs left on the hair follicles, killing them and making them easier to rinse off the hair.

I swear, it worked on all 3 of my kids!
